Nagoya, often overshadowed by its bustling neighbors Tokyo and Osaka, is a hidden gem offering a blend of history, culture, and delectable cuisine. Join me on my 3-day journey through this vibrant city, discovering its iconic landmarks and indulging in its unique flavors.
Day 1: Arrival and Culinary Delights
My Nagoya adventure begins at Tokyo Station. I Hop on the Shinkansen, Japan’s famed bullet train, and in less than two hours, I find myself in the heart of Nagoya at Nagoya Station. A quick 2-minute walk lead me to my cozy abode for the next few days – Smile Hotel Nagoyashinkansenguchi. Its prime location, coupled with its comfortable rooms and friendly staff, makes it an ideal base for exploring the city.

After I settled, it was time to tantalize my taste buds with Nagoya’s signature dish – Miso Katsu. I recommend heading over to Misokatsu Yabaton, a 7-minute walk from my hotel. This popular eatery, located on the 9th floor, serves up crispy pork cutlets drenched in a rich, savory miso sauce that will leave you craving more.
Day 2: Shopping Spree and Historical Immersion
After a hearty breakfast, I took a 23-minute train ride to Osu Shopping District from my hotel. This vibrant district is a shopaholic’s paradise, with a mix of modern boutiques, vintage stores, and traditional shops selling everything from clothes and electronics to souvenirs and local snacks. I love my shopping experience here, which I found to be slightly cheaper than Tokyo plus it’s less crowded.

After some shopping, it’s time to immerse myself in history at Nagoya Castle. where I take the train from Kamimaezu Station to Sengen-cho Station, followed by a short walk, and I find myself before this majestic structure. You will love exploring the castle grounds, admire its elegant architecture, and learn about its fascinating past.
In the evening, I suggest you unwind at the serene Heiden Onsen. Take a 5-minute bus ride or a leisurely 30-minute walk from Nagoya Castle to reach this traditional Japanese hot spring. Let the warm waters soothe your muscles and melt away the day’s fatigue. I chose this onsen since it accepts people with tattoos.

Day 3: A Glimpse of Ancient Japan
On my final day, I journey back in time to Takayama and Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its picturesque gassho-zukuri farmhouses. For less hassle whole day tour trip. I booked it with KKDAY via this link. You can use promo code TRAVELOSYO10 to get a 10% discount.
